Johan Lenox is one of the most exceptional artists to come out of Massachusetts in quite some time. Featured on our Artist Spotlight Series a few months ago, fans of Mass Music Radio were able to listen to him tell the story about how he's fusing the classical music of his youth with contemporary music. Quite literally breathing new life into this statement, Johan Lenox makes another appearance on our blog today following the release of his Chamber Johan EP. Though all of the songs off of this project are past components of his discography, Johan removes everything from these prior releases — leaving just the string sections underneath the vocals. In my interview with Johan, he mentioned how he loves to utilize the voices of his collaborators in a way that mimics the functionality of an instrument. Chamber Johan ultimately becomes a prime example of what he means by this. Though these songs have been re-worked in a fashion that is incredibly unique to Johan Lenox's artistry, each of them ultimately become outstanding listens. He's incredibly set on his mission towards combining his love for both classical and modern music, and Chamber Johan certainly achieves this goal with grace.
