Raynham's Maeko just gifted fans with arguably his best single to-date – a glistening offering titled "Don't Listen To Me". Contrary to what the title states, the squad here at Mass Music Radio strongly suggests listening to this track, which is precisely why it makes its way onto our blog today. Both shot and directed by Logan Wilder, this Alice in Wonderland-esque visual is one that contains a bright, delightful feeling throughout its nearly three minutes of length. Rather than forcefully making his presence known to the listener, Maeko takes a much more laid back approach here, understanding along the way that his artform is one that is supposed to be fulfilling to him and no one else. This underlying sentiment has resulted in a newfound energy surrounding his discography, one that is leading to the immense development of his craft. Maeko is certainly no stranger to Mass Music Radio, as this Massachusetts creative performed on our stage at Northampton's Extravaganja way back in 2018. Though he's focused moreso on his solo-discography these days, Maeko is still managing to turn heads with his innate singing and rapping abilities. We are truly filled with excitement for what's to come for this Raynham native, and you should be to, as he is a part of the ongoing takeover of Massachusetts creatives within the ever widening music industry. Constructing a wonderfully vibrant addition to her discography is Oompa – a Boston native who's catalog of music has grown with immense fortitude over the last several years. Working as a poet, rapper, and educator, there's no limitations set upon this Bay State creative, who manages to speak power into disenfranchised groups from both Massachusetts and beyond. Today, she makes her way onto our blog with the official music video for her latest single, "GO" featuring Dan DeCristofaro. From start to finish, "GO" contains this jovial, optimistic sentiment. Though she is quite literally being chased by the police throughout this visual's entirety, Oompa manages to reflect on life and continue moving forward in the same breath – something which speaks largely to black existence in this world. Rather than succumbing to the ongoing attempt to consume her existence, Oompa continues to thrive, understanding the fact that she is going to persevere through any and all obstacles that approach her. What I love the most about this release is the fact that she can take these serious themes, and present them in a way that makes for an addictive, summertime single. Oompa possesses this innate ability to make music that's both joyous to listen to, and contains an immense amount of meaning at the same exact time, something which can be incredibly difficult to manage. Helping to extract this light-hearted sentiment from this deep offering are Dan DeCristafaro and Dephrase, two creatives from Massachusetts who are exceptionally talented with regard to their individual crafts. Dan, who is a part of the Blue Light Bandits, provides autotune-infused vocals, while Dephrase was tasked with putting this well-accomplished instrumental together. Yet another example of the artistic prowess that's present in Massachusetts, "GO" is a track that fans of local music should be getting behind. Watch the official music video for "GO" below:

Enlisting help from Hooterville's BoriRock and Dun Dealy, Reem Skully puts his best foot forward on this newest single "Get Away". Originally hailing from the Boston neighborhood of Mattapan, Reem Skully has positioned himself as one of the most capable MCs that the city has to offer. Allowing both BoriRock and Dun Dealy to reel in first two minutes of this release, Reem finishes things off with another two minutes of polished, well-measured raps that serve as an excellent representation of his artistic capabilities. When thinking of individuals that accurately depict the culture prevalent within Boston, Reem Skully, BoriRock, and Dun Dealy are three people who instantly come to mind. Boasting about their respective neighborhoods and lining their verses with the occasional "On Dogs!" adlib, "Get Away" rests as a microcosm for what these Boston natives are doing with their craft. This visual was shot by JY Filmz, and directed by both JY Filmz and Boston rapper OG Swaggerdick. One of the pioneers of the Massachusetts rap scene that currently lays in front of us is Millyz – a native of Cambridge who's amassed an extensive catalog of music over the course of the last decade. Today, he makes an appearance across the airwaves of Mass Music Radio with the official music video for the latest addition to his discography, "Cantaloupe". Those who follow Millyz on Twitter will note how outspoken he is regarding music in Massachusetts:
Rather than just tweeting about this issue though, Millyz decided to take action with the visual for "Cantaloupe". Standing behind the Cambridge rapper are a select group of Massachusetts natives whose music has helped to reconstruct the narrative surrounding culture within the Bay State. Including BoriRock, DunDealy, Mizzie Cash, and CWells to name a few, this video is an excellent portrayal of the prospering Hip-Hop scene that is in existence here.
Spewing raps for a period of time lasting longer than 90 seconds, Millyz is no stranger to jamming his releases to the brim with ferocious lines that engulf the listener's mind. Seemingly doing so in an effortless manner, this Cambridge rapper is as naturally-gifted as they come. Not letting his foot off of the pedal since his joint tape alongside Dave East earlier this year, Millyz routinely drops new material for his constantly growing audience. He's proven to be one of the hardest working individuals in this state, with his level of artistic skill becoming more and more apparent as time moves forward. Recruiting some of the best talents from Massachusetts onto a singular project is BoriRock - the boisterous, yet esoteric rapper who hails from Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. Dropping his third project of the year, Bori transitions from his 2020 album Fishscale wondrously, captivating fans of Massachusetts music in the process. Today, he's featured across Mass Music Radio's airwaves with a brand new release titled D1: FREAKAZOID SUMMER. Featuring Top Hooter, Cassh Cartel, B Blazo, Reem Skully, OGM Ricky, Caev, Shaykh Hanif, and Dun Dealy, D1: FREAKAZOID SUMMER is an amazing starting point for outsiders of Boston music. All of these artists are currently bubbling within the city, helping to establish an entirely new identity for the area in the process. We constantly hone in on artists from the Bay State here at Mass Music Radio, so one can only imagine the excitement that surrounded us upon this project's release. Sitting at 14 tracks in total, BoriRock certainly did not slack with respect to giving his fans new music to listen to. Arguable the hardest working rapper in the Greater Boston area at this moment in time, BoriRock is showing no signs of slowing down his work ethic. Though he faced some legal troubles in 2020, he's determined to bounce back – utilizing his discography as a means to leave the street life behind him, and ascend to greater heights. Much of this release circulates around exactly this – the constant seeking of progress within an environment that doesn't contain much opportunity. Though he utilizes a humorous tone at times, the mission that Bori is on is one that defies many of the systemic pressures that are placed upon him. Not only does his music sound great, but the meaning behind his lyrics is something that helps make its impact substantial.

Massachusetts' Giuseppe Luv has made a name for himself through the curation of his strong, unwavering sound. Today, he makes an appearance across the airwaves of Mass Music Radio with a live performance video for his single "The WRLD is Imploding". Featuring amazing visual work by CT's Chapter.02, this release is most certainly a substantial one. Giuseppe Luv has remained relatively quiet in terms of dropping new music in 2021, however he breaks his silence here. Circulating around the continuity of life during a period of time that is both tumultuous and unsure, "The WRLD is Imploding" rests as almost a journal entry for Giuseppe Luv. He manages to touch upon a vast array of emotion throughout this song's less than two minutes of length, showcasing his powerful capabilities with respect to singing, songwriting, and instrumentation in the process. At his core, Giuseppe Luv is a true artist, and is certainly worthy of the attention of the masses. Don't sleep on his latest offering.
